Project Outcome
Working in partnership with Formation Design and Build and Haringey Council, the Cranwood development forms part of the council’s ambitious home-building programme, helping to address the shortage of affordable housing in the borough. The former care home site in Muswell Hill has been transformed into 41 high-quality homes, including 32 available at affordable council rent, providing much-needed accommodation for local families and individuals. Designed to complement the surrounding Muswell Hill Conservation Area, the development combines high-quality residential design with a strong focus on community needs and resident wellbeing.
A key element of the development is the installation of a bespoke residential sprinkler system by Sprinklers Direct, providing fire protection throughout the homes. Comprising over 400 sprinkler heads, the system is supplied by a combined sprinkler and domestic pump and tank arrangement incorporating a pressure differential valve (PDV). Residential sprinklers play a vital role in improving life safety by responding to developing fires at an early stage, helping to control fire growth, reduce the spread of fire and smoke, and provide residents with valuable additional time to escape.
In residential developments such as Cranwood, where protecting occupants is paramount, a properly designed sprinkler system provides an important layer of protection alongside other fire safety measures. The installation supports the development’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality affordable housing, giving residents greater peace of mind in their new homes.
