The building was formerly occupied, up until 2018 as a main post office, serving central Bolton. The construction is stone and timber, comprising 3 above ground floors over a single storey basement. The roof is flat upon which, the conversion provided a partial over-build, providing a fourth storey. New internal walls and partitions of stud and board construction were used to refurbish the post office into 48 new apartments. Due to the unconventional design of the apartments were the bedrooms where inner rooms to the living room and kitchen, a water suppression system was incorporated into each individual apartment.

Sprinklers Direct connected off the shared pump and tank in the plant room situated in the basement to provide a complete dedicated riser and floor by floor zoned sprinkler system which serves a total of 208 heads. Sprinkler protection into the basement cycle stores was also designed surplus to requirements for the client.
